Banking on Relationships - Colleen Miller & President Kevin Day 

When Dr. Colleen Miller decided it was time to expand her chiropractic practice, she needed a banking partner who could see potential in her business.

 She found that partner in State Bank.

Miller, who founded Stratton Chiropractic & Family Health Center in 2000, operated her chiropractic office at 343 West Fourth Street in Waterloo. Then in 2017, she decided to propel the practice forward, starting with a refinancing of the property.

“My husband had a longtime relationship with State Bank with his business, so he introduced me to them,” Miller said.

State Bank President Kevin Day and several loan officers helped Miller with the refinancing of the Waterloo location, and then assisted her with plans to expand into Randolph County.

“When I went to State Bank they said, ‘we understand that you are trying to be a presence in this community and we want to help grow small businesses,’” Miller said. “They gave me the chance to buy the Red Bud location. They looked at that business plan, believed in it, and financed it.”

In September 2022, Miller and two fellow chiropractors, Dr. Jennifer Kujawski and Dr. Katie Neff, opened Turning Point Wellness Center in the two former Stratton Chiropractic locations.

Today, State Bank manages many of the business accounts for Turning Point.

Miller credits State Bank with giving her business - which has grown to 12 employees - the opportunity to expand into another county and a new patient demographic.

Miller applauds the extra effort State Bank employees put into working with her, both for her business and personal accounts.
“My husband and I bought a car from a private party, and they bent over backwards to handle the money transfers and make that purchase happen seamlessly,” Miller said.

Looking ahead to the future, Miller says she knows State Bank is the right partner to help her business grow.

“I truly feel that if I wanted to expand or if I had a different idea to take the practice a different way, they would listen to me,” Miller said. “If it made financial sense, I know that they would help me be successful.”
